Paste the script
Copy your script from Notion, Google Docs or anywhere, then press ⇧⌘V.

Record in sections
Stop between sections. Cuey keeps your place, so pickups start on the right line.

Fewer restarts means fewer jump cuts to hide in the edit.
Tips that
make the difference.
Write for the ear
Short sentences read better from a small window under the camera. Break long sentences at natural pauses.
Match the camera you record with
Cuey helps eye contact only with the camera it sits next to. For the MacBook camera, use Under Camera. For another camera, use Floating and move it next to that lens.
Leave a beat before each section
A one-second pause at the start of each take makes editing cleaner.

Questions, answered
Can I use Cuey with an external camera?+
Yes. Choose the Floating placement and move Cuey as close to that camera's lens as your screen allows. Eye contact improves the closer the text is to the lens you record with.
Does Cuey record my video?+
No. Cuey only shows your script. Record with QuickTime, OBS, Screen Studio, a camera, or whatever you already use.
Can I change speed mid-take?+
In Follow mode there's nothing to change: Cuey moves when you do. In Read mode you set a speed, and you can pause with ⌥⌘Space.
